Morgan cushioned her head on her arms as she laid back in the shade of the large tree, the Black Lake sparkling in the late afternoon sun. It was a nice day, and she'd actually had a free at the end of all her classes, so she'd decided to take advantage of it by coming out here.
"I can't believe I'm almost done with Hogwarts...one more year after this," she muttered to herself as she closed her brown eyes. "How crazy..." She wondered if other sixth years felt as she did. Maybe, maybe not. She was, of course, not like other sixth years-in more ways than one. She was one of the few non-Weasleys with bright red hair. She remembered when she started at Hogwarts, people had been wondering if she was Ron's cousin, or twin-she had to laugh at that, she and Ron looked nothing a like-or even if she was Ginny, Ron's actual sister, having been asked to move up a year because she was so brilliant.
Then there was the other reason, one that people couldn't tell just by looking at her. Morgan had the ability to freeze time, due to a somewhat "freak" accident when she was just a baby. She hadn't told a soul at Hogwarts, and hadn't had more than a handful of accidents in which she had almost been discovered. The last time had been the worst. It was at the end of her 5th year, in the middle of a Potions class, and that twerp Draco Malfoy had thrown a spider on her head. She'd shrieked and frozen the room-and that was when a Gryffindor girl-Lavender Brown-returned from the lavatory. Her blue eyes had gone completely round and saucer-like as she saw Draco frozen mid-smirk, Snape caught in the middle of yelling at me for the noise. Luckily, the room unfroze a moment later, and since no one else had seen anything, Lavender assumed she'd just imagined it all. Morgan had to pretend as well, but she had been very careful around Lavender from then on.
She sighed to herself, and drifted off into a light dozing sleep, unaware of the world around her...
